We moved from a shared lab space into our own new lab space in the Life Sciences Research Building at UAlbany in April 2024!
Arun became an Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Biological Sciences at UAlbany.
Arun became an Affiliate Faculty in the Department of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at UAlbany.
People
We reached the highest number of people in the lab since we opened in June 2022. Earlier in 2024, we had 2 postdoctoral associates, 2 research associates, 2 PhD students, 4 undergraduate researchers and 2 high school researchers. Check out our team members here.
Hannah Talbot is the lab’s first PhD student. One of our lab’s undergraduate students, Hannah, started their PhD research in our lab in the Fall of 2024 through the Department of Biological Sciences at UAlbany.
Our postdoctoral associate Johnsi moved to an industry position at Curia Global.
Our research associate Arlin moved to an industry position at Eurofins.
Senior Postdoctoral Associate Madhan is promoted to Research Scientist beginning Jan 1, 2025.

Arun was ranked among the world’s top 2% researchers (along with 42 other UAlbany faculty), according to a Stanford University study published annually through Elsevier. This was highlighted in UAlbany News and Arun was interviewed at the Times Union newspaper.

Grants
Arun received an administrative supplement for equipment purchases from the NIGMS at NIH. We purchased a typhoon laser imager for the lab.
Arun received UAlbany’s Minerva Center Innovation Funding to undertake a research project with an undergraduate researcher.
